Event Details

Our event’s name is Sandsations and City Sandsations. These are family friendly events where anyone can participate or watch the fun. This is Sandsation's 27th year. Sandsations is a one day event down on the beach that is a sand sculpting competition. We have masters, intermediate, novice, family and children’s teams. This will happen Saturday, July 23rd.There will be a non-profit area where the Peninsula's non-profit organizations will have a plot to build a sand sculpture. For a $1 a vote, people will be able to vote for their favorite non-profit or all the non-profits! The non-profits will then be able to take home the monies that have been donated. We're also working on getting together a "Battle of the Sands" between our areas three high school's art students from Ilwaco, Naselle and Astoria. There are also free hot-dogs offered by the Kiwannis.

Between July 20-24 City Sandsations lasts for three days and has 4 solo sand artists who will be creating exciting sand sculptures people can watch being built. Also, a master team is building a huge display sand sculpture; when finished, people will be able to take their picture in front of the sculpture. The sculptures will stay up until Sunday and from then on however the weather permits. There will be a lesson/play area for the kids to participate in with a dedicated master sand sculptor to help them. A Chili-Cookoff Fundraiser for Sandsations will begin at 4:30 and run until 8:00. The cost is $5:00. The area's local restaurants will be participating.

Sandsations is an annual sand sculpting event that takes place on the Long Beach Peninsula in Long Beach, Washington. It usually happens the first two weeks of July, depending on the tides. City Sandsations occurs in Long Beach City from Wednseday through Sunday. It consists of solo sand artists and a children's learning area. Friday afternoon there are classes for the kids and that night we have a big bon-fire on the beach. Saturday is the sand sculpting competition down on the beach. The Sand Flea Pet Parade occurs halfway through the event on Saturday.
